Form Four students at Makueni Boys’ High School Friday night (Feb 19) protested against being ordered to shave their heads, a situation that escalated to chaos within the school.
It is reported that the 256 students stoned the principal, leaving him with head injuries.
Confirming the Friday chaos, Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan said calm was restored after police officers were deployed to the school.
On Saturday morning (February 20), the school’s Board met the County Education bosses to hatch an agreement on whether the institution will be closed indefinitely or not.
The Principal, Raphael Katana was treated at a Makueni hospital and discharged Saturday morning.
No student was injured during the night chaos, police boss Napeiyan said.
Regular shaving in the school is part of the rules that have been in existence since the school was founded in 1966.
